subtle revolution

"There are two kinds of revolutionists, as of most things- a good kind and a bad. The bad revolutionists destroy conventions by appealing to fads- fashions that are newer than conventions. The good do it by appealing to facts that are older than conventions." (G.K. Chesterton)

A few weeks ago...

A few weeks ago... I blessed with the opportunity to take a couple trips out to Colorado. I first went to Colorado Springs and took the opportunity to visit Pike's Peak. Later I travelled again to Estes Park for a weekend retreat. The majesty of the mountains is simply incomparable.
As I made my feeble attempt to behold the vast beauty, I found myself in reverent awe of the fact that I was struck dumb by the world in a fallen state. My mind... my heart... my spirit can not comprehend the fact that this world was even more ravishing before the great fall of man.
As it is, I find myself longing to return to he mountains.
One must feel the presence of God there. One must be humbled by the massive peeks. One must be wowed by the vastness of the earth as the eyes soak up cities, mounts, and country-sides.
It took my breath away. (I do mean this in every way possible... it's hard for a plains-dweller to breathe at such an altitude!)
As I stood in silence at the summit of Pike's, it was as if I could hear the rocks crying out to the glory of the Lord. They must- simply because they are there.
God is good. Lift your eyes to the hills. From there your help comes by the hand of the Maker of heaven and earth.
